Bio

The fiery rock’n’roll of this Puglian band conjours up an unpredictable blend of sound, evoking a pure vintage musk through a metropolitan style of composition. Written and sung in Italian without censorship of local dialect or slang, Rekkiabilly delivers a well-shaken musical experience with lyrics as authentic as homemade wine. The group was formed in 2005, combining the creative talents of singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dario Mattoni and saxophonist, Lidia Bitetti, and has been exporting its distinctive swing/rockabilly sound across Europe ever since. Following a some experimentation with the group’s formation, Rekkiabilly has recently strengthened its line-up by welcoming an explosive brass quintet.
Rekkiabilly has shared the stage with the likes of Jon Spencer, Après la Classe, Giuliano Palma & the Bluebeaters, NewYork Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Vinicio Capossela, Max Gazzè, Banda Bardò, Folkabbestia, Punkreas, Michele Zarrillo, Arisa and many others.
The band has performed on stages at some of the most renowned venues in Europe including Micca Club (Rome), Bloom (Milan), White Trash and Road Runner (Berlin), Sean McD’s (Dublin), Kaf Fur Dik (Zurich ) Sziget Festival ( Budapest), FIMU (Belfort), and Hutball (Dresden).
